Gilli T

Time to get in the water for a cheeky snorkeling trip to spot some tutles, mermaids and Harley's...
I wasn't joking...
With the Vietnamese biking experience being missed this brought some comfort! The current here is ridiculous, like an underwater treadmill!
Paradise.

Lunchtime; get a basket of whatever you want for £1.20. Corn frittas, beef rendang and curry...
If the beach view could ever get boring ;) you could try out the all day part boat, cruising in style...
Time for a stroll up to the sunset bar, passing the best rugby pitch in the world...
After a victory on the pitch catch a ride home in style...
The same spot at the sunset bar can provide a different show every night, you will never get bored of the sunsets...
Even if it's cloudy....
With fire dancers right beside you, even the night show is spectacular...
Next up, night market. Selling anything delicious this place is nuts...
Finish up with some home made gilli ice cream, these guys are pretty cool, if they had courts out here this is probably how it would work!
Beach party time! With it being so hot on the streets why not hit up predrinks in one of the air conditioned shops, with an unlimited drink supply and some banging tunes...
The beach parties are amazing here, great music, fireworks, a lot of great people you can't really go wrong! No effort required, just rock up on your trunks, no shoes needed, easy. After a long night catchup on the sleep in your bungalow, just try sleep through the call to prayer at 4am...

GILLI ISLANDS!!!

With word on the street that mainland Hindu Bali was preparing for a religious festival it was time to depart! That sounds very un-cultural however it was not what you would envisage. A day of no electricity, no noise and a street curfu so that the evil spirits wouldn't spot the inhabitants as they pass the island of Bali didn't not sound fun in the boiling heat! However the day before there were some interesting traffic jamming processions...
Waiting on the boat before departure was like being locked in your local gym'so sauna for the night...
The locals have mastered the cockney accent here and the lady in the background was serving some "blody cold Bintang mate"! Time to set off on this beast, a nine engine 2,700 horse power speed boat...
This boat didn't hang around, passing many islands on the way...
Check out those hot dogs ;)
The boat docked up in paradise, Gilli T...
Despite being the most developed Island of the lot, there is still only one main road and with motor transport being banned horse kart and bike are the only way around...
When you book your taxi one of these rock up! O, and don't worry about laws here, there are no police!
Well this place had already begun to feel like paradise, the best snorkeling and diving and plenty of beach bars to chill out on a bean bag. It also became evident that there weren't many male tourists, something you don't always come across!
With the sunset approaching and cold beers in sight it would be rude not to head down to one of the beach sunset parties. Each bar takes it in turn to host each night to make sure that there's a great bunch of people all together. Time to extend those flights....

Monkey Temple and Tahn-a-lot sunsets!!

Having bike withdrawal symptoms from Vietnam it was time to get biking again on the way to monkey temple. Smooth roads, no trucks or coaches and bikes that actually break and turn corners - this was luxury! Having said that the roads were a lot narrower and gave lead to some interesting maneuvers.
These monkeys were vicious, one sight of a chocolate bar and they would be up your back and going through your bag!
Bit of an interesting sign...

Went for a casual stroll through the rice fields to chat to some locals about their produce
Next stop... Tahn-a-lot, a holy village and popular sunset spot...
This place was home to the holy snake....
As soon as the cloud had cleared the sky lit red and left an amazing sight once again...
Mainland Bali was almost up, with an exciting day ahead on a boat to the stunning Gilli Islands.

SHLIDS & Surfing

Wow! That's all that can be said.
Now that's why travellers grow ridiculously long hair and ponytails! We left our Villa....
....down some pretty narrow "roads"...
To be submerged in surfers paradise for a quick scrub up lesson with some of the locals before heading outback....
My first wave in Bali. Chris's & Max's first lesson!
Bali wouldn't be Bali without an awesome sunset, check out the horses and pirate ships...

Goodbye Vietnam hello BALI!

Sadly Vietnam came to an end after the epic 1,500km journey north to south! It's never great when Imigration disbelieve your passport is yours and as a result you almost miss the flight!

Most would dread a 7hr airport stopover but not in Changi airport Singapore! With a free city tour, mono rail, worlds tallest indoor slide and a free cinema this airport had endless things to do!
Check out this view...
You even have to rate it...
Feeling like a bit of nature? Go to the various butterfly gardens in the airport...
Or maybe feeling a bit more futuristic...
The social tree!
This all being well unless you have food poisoning from an overload of sushi the night before, would not recommend this before flying!
In Bali you are greeted by this, only 2km from the airport, can't complain! Time to hot some long awaited food and drink, ginger and line sliders and nasi goreng...
So refreshing!
A seriously nice bunk bed!
Equipt with its own pool and roof top bar...
